Addicted In Isolation

Humankind has never been as connected as today. Via social media, smart phones and the internet we reach people on the other side of the world in a matter of seconds. The whole world has become our friend. Connectivity an addiction.

And yet we feel all the more isolated and alone in this world.

Isn’t it ironic?

Isolation

This work reflects the isolation and accompanying loneliness that each of us creates - consciously or not - through the use of ‘smart phones’ and other digital technology.

We are sitting on our own virtual islands - here in the work represented by granite blocks - on which we shout our feelings through our digital extensions and then we wait for digital waves … hoping for a reaction from the world.

The digital blocks are inaccessible to others … hardly big enough to put ourselves on … floating in nothing we are surrounded by millions of other blocks … full of lonely souls.
