The ‘March 2 Infinity’ art series - by Sedas - takes the viewer into the narrative of a desolated, barren earth far into the future of humankind. Human survivors wander the lands in search of hope for reaching the stars.
The lucky individuals who could afford it, left earth eons ago when they fled to the stars in search for a better future for humankind - so they claimed .
The so-called ‘Transhumanists’ had been using technological advancements for centuries to improve their bodies & minds. They became super humans and reached an almost god status and became immortal. Time did not seem to have any impact anymore.
Their greed & unsatisfied hunger for power wrecked the lands, plundered earth and left human societies destabilized for ever.
When almost everything was consumed they fled to the stars with promises to return …
They were never seen or heard from again. Their fate unknown.
The impact on human societies was devasting and almost all died in the aftermatch of hunger, war & despair.
The offspring of those (un)fortunates that survived, wander since then the lands in small groups of bands. Inspired by holy scriptures with promises about a new life they gaze into the night, looking at the stars and dream about a new existance between those that left eons ago.
These stargazers are wandering around forever, scavenging the remainders of human society and searching for the mythical & holy gigantic black stones.
Their path to the stars lies hidden within those stones.
The old prophecies talk about huge black stones within the landscape that should contain the secrets for a life in the clouds and beyond. Holy stories told for centuries already by the spirit healers & priests of these new religions.
The prophets claim that those holy stones were left behind by the ‘Transhumanists’ and contain the secrets and long forgotten technologies to become super humans. Finding them will allow the chosen ones to follow their brothers & sisters to the stars and leave this damned place for good.
Groups of wanderers with bodies bearing a far resemblance of what once was a humanoid, now altered and deformed with broken technology and minds full of shattered hopes for a better life, scavenge since eons the earth … searching for the holy black stones.
The ‘Transhumanists’ left behind ‘spiritual guides’ to guard the black stones and aid those fortunates who find them. Or so our ‘prophets’ claim.
These weird technological humanoids wander the lands since then as well. Sometimes helpfull but most of the times violent and in a destructive rage against those that come in their neigbourhood. You never know for sure until you come to close.
AI driven, programmed beings that became ‘conscious’ during the eons with an own fabricated mission or faith in a holy war they wage.
Nobody knows.
Death is almost a given when you encounter one.
Will you find the black stones and become the chosen one ?
From The Atelier
Working on some new M2I boards with charcoal pencils and oil paint
The academy group exposition ‘Model X’ came to an end last sunday. It was a great success with over 1000 visitors during these 3 weeks and an overall very positive reaction.
Over 30 students of the ateliers ‘Living Model 2D & 3D’ exhibited together a great variety of their works. The response of the visitors was very positive and praised the variety and quality of the showed works.
I showed recent artworks from my art series ‘M2I Traditional’ and ‘M2I Transhumanism’.
Thank you to everyone who came along. Your visit & positive reactions are very encouraging to continue our artistic journey.
And also thanks to the academy, my fellow students and especially to our art teacher Benny Luyckx, who made this all possible.
It was a great experience and we learned alot. Looking forward to a next one.
You can find more info about my participating artworks on the dedicated exposition page.
Kind Regards,
Steven
